Teacher and Young Student

Our Motivation

The inspiration behind this course is to equip educators with the essential skills to facilitate academic success in diverse classroom settings effectively. Throughout my career and research as a special education instructor, I have encountered countless educators who have "thrown in the towel" due to a lack of adequate preparation for the complexities of the modern classroom. Today’s educational landscape demands that general education teacher-leaders possess foundational knowledge to support students with disabilities in accessing grade-level curriculum. Unfortunately, many educators find this responsibility overwhelming, often feeling unprepared and unsupported. This course is designed with those educators in mind. My research has focused on teachers-leader self-efficacy and its impact on their ability to deliver instruction to diverse student populations. The findings were eye-opening—confirming the adage, "We don’t know what we don’t know." Educators expressed frustration, not only with administrative expectations but also with their inability to implement instructional strategies they were never trained to use. Teaching students with disabilities effectively becomes a manageable task only when educators have the right tools at their disposal. So why this course? This course catalyzes bridging the gap in teacher-leader readiness. It is designed to empower educators with the confidence, knowledge, and strategies needed to enter their classrooms fully prepared. Ready to engage a diverse student body, deliver rigorous instruction tailored to individual abilities, and foster an inclusive learning environment. Ultimately, this course will help educators not only navigate today’s evolving educational landscape but also enrich their teaching practice with evidence-based strategies—ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.
